I was born in Coventry in 1944 and went to Ravensdale Primary School and Stoke Secondary Modern School.
I married Vincent West, a software designer, in 1964. Our daughter Amanda was born in 1965. She is married to Chris - they
have two children, Bethan and Daniel.
After resuming my education, I obtained a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from London University in 1983. I qualified as
a teacher with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education the following year. I taught in a number of comprehensive schools
in Berkshire, mainly Maiden Erlegh School in Reading, where I had responsibility for Advanced Level Theatre Studies. I
retired in 2001.
I now enjoy a very busy retirement, seeing friends, visiting my family,
gardening etc. I have also discovered a love for Paris, visiting most years and improving my French.
I am now vice-chair of governors of a local primary school. This takes a great deal of time but it is good to be adding
to my skills and to be back in education.
